The town gained their second win of the season with a 3-1 victory over ballycam. The visitors were a very much changed team from recent years and Castlewellan found them hard to break down. Eventually after 43 minutes Paddy Keown made the break through following up after Conor Stratton’s shot was deflected. In the second period the town were in complete control and scored another two goals per Donal McKibben and Dean Anderson. All in all a very satisfactory performance from Castlewellan who still have Ruari McArdle to come back in when he returns from America. Good performances from Colm Flanagan and Dean Anderson. Good also to see the management playing some of the up and coming starlets namely Rory Burns, Colm Devlin, David Gilmore, Ruari McLaughlin, they certainly seem to have a bit of committment which is all we are after. Next up for the town are champions Ballyvea on Tuesday. Sorry that there are no photos but I failed to charge my batteries, will do better next time. Well done also to the thirds who played their first friendly of the season and had a comfortable win over Newcastle 3rds, what a manager!
