The firsts got their fourth win of the season with a comfortable victory over Rossglass (See Report)
The seconds were missing a lot of players and could only manage a draw with Ballyvea seconds, Alan Savage scoring their goal. The thirds were also massively under strength and succumbed 4-0 to Valley Rangers thirds.
On the youth front there were wins for the under 17s and 15s but defeats for the under 13s and 12s. Would all managers please forward copy to me no later than Monday evening so that I can collate all the information and send it in ‘en bloc’.
Jim Poland has recently opened up a b&b and it appears to be going well with a ‘no vacancies’ sign up late on Saturday evening.
Watching the big hurling final on tv last Sunday reminded me of an amusing story I read lately. The film ‘The Quiet Man’ starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara was filmed in Galway 60 years ago this month and during a break in filming some of the local GAA dignitaries invited John Wayne to that years All Ireland Hurling final in Croke Park. During the match one of them asked big John ‘Would you like to be out there with a hurl in your hand Mr Wayne?’ To which the big man replied ‘Well I sure wouldn’t like to be out there without one!!’
Incidently it seems that young Jed McCartan who was injured recently against Annalong has suffered a dislocated hip and all at the club wish him a speedy recovery.
