What a great christmas break that was, 3 Bobby Dalzell Cups in a row – fantastic, a great night was had by all. I would like to say a big thank you to Castlewellan club for their hospitality and the buffet that they prepared at such short notice, it was much appreciated.
The poker night was a great success and on the night Decky Crilly proved too good for everyone to win the £450 first prize. It is hoped to hold a poker night every two months so watch this space.
The festive period seems to have had a profound effect on one of our more illustrious members ‘Yohi’ Ward, he’s been spotted in a pinstripped suit with a very fetching red (what else) shirt telling everyone that ‘It is better to give than to receive’ – what has happened to the man!! He’ll be buying the Guardian next!
Committee meeting on Wednesday January 9th in the community centre at 7pm.
Tote result:- 31-24-20 no winners, next week 2 nos £250 3 nos £750.
Another year over and within the calender year the firsts have only suffered defeat three times! Against Carniny Rangers in last season’s Junior shield quarter final where we were the better team for 75% of the game but couldn’t put the ball in the net. Against Ballyvea in this seasons charity shield, went up with a young makeshift team and the game was little more than a friendly anyway. Lastly against Ballykelly in this years Junior cup 2nd round. This has been well documented as we virtually camped out around their 18 yard box for the second half but despite getting two penalties couldn’t score and were beaten 2-1. So all in all a very successful year culminating in boxing day, what a great bit of craic that was, lets go for more of the same in the new year! UTT
