The firsts had an excellent result away at Mourne Rovers (see report) the seconds had no match but the thirds were beaten 2-1 by Ardglass thirds, Shane Mooney got the town’s goal.
The under 17s had a good victory against a well organised Tollymore team, the boys missed a few early chances before Ruiari Greenan pounced to put the town 1 up. In the second half Tollymore pressed and were rewarded with a well taken goal. Castlewellan never stopped though and a cool finish from Ryan White sealed victory. Sean Carville was man of the match.
The under 15s put in a truly stunning performance beating old adversaries Tollymore 2-0, despite having quite a few chances in the first period it was 0-0 at half time. The second half was similar to the first with Castlewellan pressing all over the pitch but Tollymore defended bravely. Eventually the town got their noses in front with a good goal at the back post from Adam McAleese. They pushed for more and duly went 2 up when Keelan Burns hit a beauty into the bottom corner. Castlewellan were well served by James McAleenan, Eoin Moag, Ruiari McGuinness and Jack McCourt but man of the match was Adam McAleese.
The under 12s got their first win of the season in the local derby against Newcastle. Reece Doyle scored two stunning long range goals. The Newcastle keeper was outstanding and kept them in the game in the 1st half. The town had plenty of good chances in the game, Anton Ozga hit the crossbar and chances also fell to Ruiari King and Eoin O’Hare. O’Hare got a brace in the 2nd half, with Ruiari King (pictured) and Anton Ozga also on the score sheet. This was a great all round team display. Man of the match was Caolon Murray who set up a few goals worked hard in midfield and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet himself.
Committee meeting in the community centre at 7pm Wednesday 9th January, the tote will be drawn out at the meeting.
