A comfortable win and another three points for the Town. A strong wind spoiled the game but after initially coming up against stern Kilkeel resistance Castlewellan kept the ball low, got wide and eventually the chances came. Kilkeel playing with the benefit of the wind nearly took the lead on 18 minutes when a free kick was saved magnificently by Mickey Watson. However with 25 minutes gone the game changed dramatically when Paddy Keown rose to head home a Steele cross. From the restart Castlewellan regained possession and Trainor placed Keown for a second goal. Big Paddy completed a quickfire hatrick in the 31st minute with another good finish. In fairness Kilkeel kept plugging away and pulled one back shortly afterwards when the wind caused confusion in the Town defence and despite several attempts to clear the ball it was poked past Watson. Enter stage left Stevie Trainor and just as Paddy Keown had done before Stevie scored twice in a minute approaching half time. The goal of the game came right on the half time whistle from big Paddy’s right boot when he caught another right wing cross full on the volley and the ball arrowed into the top corner.
