The actual result doesn’t give a true reflection of this game. Grange put Castlewellan under pressure in the first half and were somewhat unlucky to go in 2-1 down at half time. Castlewellan got the breaks in the second half to pull away to make it comfortable and must learn to start games the way they finish them.
Grange came with a plan to stifle Castlewellan by lining out 5 across the middle and it certainly worked in the first half as they a had a number of opportunities to score before Castlewellan eventually did with S Trainor finishing to the bottom corner following some neat play. Almost immediately Grange deservedly equalised when Castlewellan were caught trying to play their way out of the defence and the Grange centre forward finished well. This stung Castlewellan into action and just before the break hit grange on the counter when Karol Jaroinski got onto a long clearance and finished well by lobbing the keeper. After a dressing down at half time from Manager Kelly, Castlewellan came out different team in the second half and punished Grange at nearly every opportunity, further goals from Trainor, D Gilmore, J Croskery & C Stratton meant that the scoreline looked more comfortable than it actually was but the 3 points were the main thing which keeps Castlewellan in the hunt for honours. Best for Castlewellan were B Travers and S Trainor.
