The first team marched on in the Junior Shield with a 4-0 victory against Raceview (see report)
The seconds were involved in a crazy game on Saturday against near neighbours Newcastle, and fell behind 3-0 within the first 20 mins of the game. The Town got a vital goal however with only 5 minutes remaining of the first half, through McComiskey.
Whatever the seconds management said at half time must have hit home because the town were a different team, passing and moving, supporting each other and they where rewarded with a goal after 50 minutes through G Lawless, the third goal came from D Morgan and now the Town could smell blood. Further goals where scored by S Russell and A Burns and with 10 mins to go D Morgan got his second, the game finishing 6-3, best for the town were, McComiskey, Burns, Morgan, Crilly and Cunningham.
The thirds defeated Tollymore seconds 2-1 with scores from Noel Travers and S McCombe.
The under 13s went down 5-4 to Saintfield in an entertaining game. Castlewellan started well but missed numerous chances early on and were made to pay when Saintfield scored on the break, the lead didn’t last long and Nadine McAleenan equalised from a direct free kick. Oisin O’Toole put the town 2-1 up but Saintfield restored parity just before the break. The lads had a disasterous start to the second half and conceded 2 goals early on but yet again O’Toole was on the mark to reduce the arrears. The town conceded a fifth but Ethan Aulds made it 5-4 to set up a grandstand finish, but they were unable to find an equaliser. Best for Castlewellan were O’Toole, Cunningham and Garland. Big game this week against tabletoppers Kilmore.
The under 12s recorded a 3-3 draw against Rossglass, Reece Doyle(2) and a wonder goal from Eoin O’Hare were our marksmen. Good performances this week from Antoish Ozga, Chris Cope, Reece Clarke, Kiernan Stratton and Coalan Watson.

Congratulations to Paul Corrigan who celebrated his birthday this week, we were going to celebrate at the committee meeting with a ‘Dundee’ cake but that idea has been shelved as I don’t think he would have appreciated it after Sunday!
