There will be a golf outing to Bright Golf Course on June 15th, everyone is welcome so get your 4 ball sorted out and report it to Mickey Ward, the cost is £20 per head and the tee box is reserved from 10am. Lets get as good a crowd together as possible and make it a day to remember.
Below is a fourball from our first golf outing in May 1982 at the ‘Hen Run’ (at the old 12th tee box I think), seated from the left is Eddie Boden, a young and handsome Mickey Ward, Larry Boden and Rory McAlinden (caddy) in front is James McAlinden (RIP) who was also a caddy on the day. The reason I know that it’s the 12th tee box is because I fired three balls off the tee down into the whins far below and promptly flung the 8 iron I was using in after them. On reflection I decided to retrieve my club and met a wee man and his dog searching for balls in the whins, he held up a ball and said ‘Is it a dunlop you’re after?’ to which I replied ‘No it’s an 8 iron!’ I could have killed the wee man and I haven’t thrown a club since (much).
Following the golf the annual awards evening for Youth and Seniors alike will take place in Mulhollands where the seniors will be presented with the Premier League for the third year in succession after Killough’s appeal to the IFA fell on deaf ears and was thrown out.
