Once again the weather had a big impact on this weekend’s games with the seconds match away to Saintfield being the only game to survive the weather. The firsts and thirds were both scheduled to play Ballyvea but unfortunately rain was the big winner in those games.
The seconds recorded an impressive 3-0 victory away to Saintfield and in truth it could have been more. The team arrived to Kilmore for the match with only 12 players due to some late pullouts, which is a real shame considering the number of players available due to postponement of both the firsts and thirds games; something for the senior management to look into no doubt. On the pitch the boys started well and were rewarded after 30 minutes when Rory McMullan headed home a Sean Fitzsimmons. The game was put beyond doubt in the second half when Fitzy once again provided the ammunition for Mosey to slot home to make it 2-0. Breanainn McComiskey added a 3rd with 10 minutes to go to round off a good performance. This weekend the boys are home to Ardglass with the game kicking off at 2pm in Annsborough.
The firsts are in Junior Cup action this weekend as they face Belfast side St. Matthews at home in the 3rd round. St. Matthews dumped the boys out last year and no doubt revenge will be on the cards as the boys aim to make it through to the 4th round. Kick off is 1.30pm out the Bann Road.
The thirds will be looking to keep their 100% start to the season going when they travel to Moneyslane. Kick off 2pm.
Senior training continues every Tuesday and Thursday at the 3G. The thirds are now training every Tuesday night from 7.30pm at St. Johns Club. New players welcome. Remember that membership is now due. No pay, no play!
The bad weather also had an impact on the youth teams with only the under 13s in action and they went down to a 3-2 defeat to Portaferry. This was a much improved performance from the boys though.
Youth training continues as normal this week and your managers will be in touch about games this weekend.
