Mooneys retain Pub League by beating Maginns
It was a busy weekend for the club with Friday night seeing the return of the annual pub league and Saturday saw our inaugural Family Fun Day. While the pub league didn’t have the entries of previous years, the tournament itself proved to be another successful event and it saw two recent winners meet in the final as Maginns Bar took on Mooneys Bar. Mooneys were the defending champions having dethroned Maginns so revenge was on the cards for Yohi’s team. In the end, the organisation and experience from Mooneys shone through with Noel Devlin and Matt Brannigan both impressing in the final as Mooneys ran out convincing 3-1 winners. A big thanks to Yohi Ward for all his work in running the tournament and to the referees on the night, Paul Corrigan and Conor McAlinden.
Family Fun Day proves a huge success
The Family Fun Day proved to be a roaring success on Saturday with the turnout exceeding expectations of the organisers. The mini soccer games allowed our younger teams to enjoy a game on the new pitch and some great football certainly kept the large crowd entertained. With a number of games throughout the day, the highlight came with the grand finale as the team of Dragons entertained the crowds as they took on the team of Slayers! The Slayers may have come out on top but the Dragons certainly stole the show, posing for pictures and dancing with the crowds. A special mention to Felix Blaney and his team for organising this great community event, something that will no doubt become a fixture in our calendar for many years to come. Also a word of thanks to Paul McArdle for keeping the crowd entertained throughout the day with some great music.
Pre-Season games this coming Saturday
